The Second Amendment……Should American Citizens Be Required To Present ID Prior To Purchasing A Firearm? Poll Included.
The short length of the article is dictated by the obvious validity of the premise. The “right to bear arms” is specifically protected in the Second Amendment of the US Constitution. Interestingly, there is no similar right positively stated in terms of the, so-called, “right to vote”. This would suggest that requiring positive identification to purchase a firearm is more of a strike against the rights of the individual than the same requirement is when coupled with the right to vote. Aside from any number of other arguments in favor of Voter ID requirements, the simple fact that many of those supporting the practice of requiring id prior to exercising the clear right to purchase a firearm would suggest a certain level of hypocrisy when they take the opposite stance when it comes to voting.
Really, what else is there to say?
