A Price On His Head—The Story Of Eric Allen Bell
Eric Allen Bell’s story is really all about what is wrong with the United States of America and, by extension, much of the Western World. It’s the story of a man who discovered a truth and is paying a heavy price for that discovery. According to his website:
I have lost most of my Liberal friends.
I have lost my reputation in Hollywood.
I love (have) lost my livelihood.
Most of my family members no longer talk to me.
I had to sell my car in order to pay my rent - and it's that money is now gone.
I am late on every single bill.
I just can’t believe the man is in it for the money. The interesting thing is how well those who disagree with him are validating his position. His thesis is that many of the teachings of Islam are incompatible with Western values. It should thus come as no surprise that those on the Left have now turned their backs on him. This “Islamaphobe” now has a price on his head for pointing out that those who oppose Islam end up with prices on their heads. Is there a lesson here? He further seems to suggest that basic freedoms, such as freedom of thought, speech, and religion, which old-style Americans have always associated with the United States, are being undermined and attacked under the rubric of, wait for it, freedom of religion and opposition to intolerance.
I’m just wondering…if a group puts a price on someone’s head for doing no more than speaking their mind, doesn’t that somewhat validate that someone’s claim that the group in question is just a bit intolerant of others and that it can no longer claim to be a religion of peace while at the same time advocating a system of repression backed by violence against those speaking out against them?
What am I missing?
