This isn't really meant to be another article addressing the trials and tribulations which we have all experienced as a result of the changes here on the Vine. As the saying goes, "Been there, done that", both by making comments and by writing an independent article. There are a few observations which I may not be able to stop myself from making, but the primary purpose of this article is to communicate some short term plans I have which might require a bit of patience and understanding on the part of the administrators of the nations of which I am presently a member.
With that in mind, I have a plan....:)
In order for me to perform the experiment i have in mind I will need to resign from just about all of the nations of which I am a member. With perhaps one exception, all of those nations are "gated" which is why I thought I might explain why I am resigning with the full intent of resubmitting my name for re acceptance in the very near future. I am wondering if less is more, meaning that my plan is to see if by reducing the number of nations I will be able to concentrate on learning the ins and outs of the new features and perhaps get a better idea of what those new features are as well as what the designers had in mind when they decided to include them as an integral part of the new version of Newsvine. I'm not suggesting that there is not a better way to do the same thing, but I just thought it might be interesting to see things from another perspective.
I can understand why some might believe my plan is somewhat self-serving, but I can assure you that I am thinking that it might provide an opportunity to concentrate on understanding the new features from the perspective of a newer member.
I can only hope that all administrators understand that this is not meant to be taken personally nor to suggest that I do not wish to return as a member in the very near future.
Due to the fact that I am responsible in some way for the following four nations I will obviously need to continue to retain my status as a member.
Trainwreck.....Ethicsvine....The Forum on the Federal Reserve..........Globalize..(really BDStyers creation)
For logistical reasons it would seem a necessity for me to continue to be a member of those four nations.
The probability that any of the administrators are going to commit hari kari over the fact I am taking a short break from their particular nation is obviously pretty low, but I still thought that being as transparent as possible might be the right thing to do .
I really don't know if this is a good idea, or whether it will be a positive learning experience, but now that I've had the idea I find that I feel the need to follow it through to its conclusion.
On another note, I'm just wondering why so many people reject conspiracy theories as a matter of course. I'm not attacking those that do, but sometimes it seems to me that it is the nomenclature rather than the actual theory that makes people dismiss such theories without even considering their validity. Having said that, yes I would like to present a possible theory for your consideration and amusement.
I have been a user of google chrome for quite some time now, but several recent comments have seemed to suggest that those using other browsers, such as Explorer, are experiencing a bit of trouble when they attempt to access this site. Interestingly, one of the reasons I ended up using chrome in the first place is because I wished to participate to a greater extent on some site, I don't believe it was Newsvine, and they were experiencing some trouble at the time with most of the other browsers. Now, consider the fact that Newsvine has recently severed its' relationship with Microsoft, while at the same time entering into an apparent partnership on a variety of levels with Google and it really isn't much of a jump to suggest a connection between the two issues. Considering my past experience, it seems that this is Deja Vu all over again. Coincidentally the Google product seems to be the one which best interfaces with the new Newsvine. I'm not suggesting it doesn't make business sense, I'm just suggesting that there is often more to a situation than originally meets the eye. I am now a Chrome user almost one hundred per cent of the time, and I wonder how many others will also become default Chrome users as a result of the "problems" they experience accessing Newsvine using other browsers as Newsvine diligently focuses on the best way to"work out the bugs".
Thanks for listening and I hope to see you around the Vine....
I'm actually experiencing a little cold feet as I post this, but feel fairly confident that I will follow through.
