Don't worry, this is not a general article about the changes at Newsvine. I think of articles such as this as "housekeeping" articles. The reason for this article is to highlight a few possible changes in approach that may be coming your way soon in terms the aforementioned nations. Newer members are much more likely to read the terms and conditions prior to making the decision to join a new nation, but many older members are likely to ignore them and move right on to the articles and seeds.
I will try to make this as short and sweet as possible, knowing my tendency to do otherwise I can only promise I will try.
With the advent of the changes and the related elevating of the importance of nations I have been experimenting with various ways to improve my experience when I visit the "new" site. One of the problems I have been having, at least here in the beginning, is how best to regulate the flow of information. As most of you know by now Newsvine has tweaked the way that the tracking function works. One important change which I am attempting to address has to do with the way we all track the activity within our nations by default. Although I obviously don't want to minimize viewership, discussion, or membership of any of the target nations I propose the following changes in an effort to enhance the experience for us all.
As goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, I'd like to thank both new and old members for being a part of each nation and I hope what I propose will be seen as a positive step.
Ethicsvine....Please ONLY post or seed articles which directly deal with the topics of Ethics, Morality, Philosophy, and (I'll add) Religion. To avoid tracking overload I will be closely monitoring how well each article addresses the nations core mission. My personal preference is to favor articles over seeds, thus providing added value to those who choose to visit and comment. A nice way to address interesting topics might be to write a couple of paragraphs addressing the topic with a link to the article in support of your position. There is a fine line in that one must add something of value to avoid being accused of simply seeding said article.
Forum on the Federal Reserve...Much as I suggest in Ethicsvine, I would like to ask that articles and seeds to the nation deal primarily with issues related to the Federal Reserve. Central bank issues, as well as other similar topics, may or may not be a good fit depending on the importance of the Federal Reserve to the over-all story. I might suggest that more general, but related, topics be published on BDStyers "Globlize" nation...as well as Trainwreck.
Trainwreck...This is a nation designed to encourage robust discussions from multiple perspectives on various topics of interest.
Thanks again, and I plan on posting an updated statement of mission to each nation in the very near future.
